Elderly woman hit, critically hurt by USPS vehicle in Union

UNION COUNTY, NJ — A 93-year-old woman was critically injured Monday afternoon after being struck by a United States Postal Service vehicle in Union Township, reports local media.

The incident took place in the parking lot located off of 255 Tucker Avenue, at around 1:35 p.m.

According to Union Police, a 37-year-old Newark resident was behind the wheel of the USPS vehicle when he reversed through the parking lot. At one point, the car hit the elderly female pedestrian.

First responders rushed the victim to University Hospital in critical condition.

At this time, an investigation by the Union Police Department remains ongoing. No further information has been disclosed.
