BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — One person was hospitalized Monday morning after crashing a car into a Carlstadt residence while suffering an apparent medical emergency, according to Daily Voice.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Passaic Avenue near the corner of 9th Street, just off Route 17. Borough police responded to the scene shortly after.
Authorities have not released the sequence of events leading up to the wreck, but driver in a Mercedes Benz slammed through a chain link fence before hitting the side of the home.
Firefighters were called to the scene to extricate the driver, who was left trapped in the wreckage of the sedan. The victim was conscious when they were then transported by Saint Clare’s Health System paramedics to a local hospital.
Tow crews were also at the site to remove the sedan, and a building inspector responded to assess the structural safety of the residence.
