PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A 46-year-old Kearny woman was identified as the driver who died last Thursday after a chain-reaction crash on the Passaic River Bridge, reports Daily Voice.

The fatal accident occurred on the westbound lanes of New Jersey Route 3 on December 15, just before 5:00 a.m.

According to investigators, the woman was driving a Subaru Impreza westbound when the vehicle hit a BMW X3 that was stopped on the roadway after becoming disabled. Moments later, the Impreza was broadside by a Toyota Prius.

Fire crews worked to extricate the driver of the Impreza before she was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities said the driver of the Prius, a 39-year-old Union City resident, was taken to HUMC but was later released after treatment.

No further information has been made available at this time.
