HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Emergency crews responded to an injury accident Sunday morning on U.S. Route 1/9 near Hackensack River Bridge in Kearny, reports local media.
The accident occurred on the southbound highway near Hackensack Avenue, past the bridge, in the city’s South Kearny neighborhood. Kearny police, firefighters, and first responders arrived on the scene shortly after.
Authorities have not shared the sequence of events leading up to the crash, but a vehicle was found wrecked against a pole. Firefighters worked to extricate the driver, who was then treated by EMS personnel.
It was not immediately clear whether the driver was transported to a hospital. No details on the patient’s condition have been disclosed.
An investigation into the cause of the accident was underway.
