HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A 36-year-old man was seriously injured late Tuesday afternoon when he was hit by a vehicle in Jersey City’s The Heights neighborhood, reports local media.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Griffith Street and Sherman Avenue. Jersey City Police said officers were called to the scene at about 4:35 p.m.
Authorities have not released the sequence of events leading up to the crash, but officers arrived to find the male pedestrian suffering from serious injuries. By then, the driver of the striking vehicle had fled the scene.
First responders rushed him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
At this time, the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department continue to investigate and search for the hit-and-run driver.
