MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — Five people were injured, three critically, Wednesday morning due to a wreck on U.S. Route 9 in Old Bridge, according to local media.
Authorities said the accident took place near Spring Valley Road. First responders were called to the scene just before 2:20 a.m.
The circumstances behind the crash and the number of vehicles involved remain unclear, but firefighters arrived to find one car on fire.
At least five people suffered injuries and were transported to an area hospital. Three of those patients sustained critical burns as a result of the crash.
An investigation by the Old Bridge Police Department was underway. No further information has been released at this time.
