Accident closes lane, delays traffic on US-1/9 NB in Kearny

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A vehicle crash Thursday morning closed a right lane on U.S. Highway 1/9 in southeast Kearny, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The collision occurred on the northbound lanes at Jacobus Avenue, north of the South Kearny area. It was first reported by NJDOT at 10:09 a.m.

Officials have not disclosed the cause of the wreck or the vehicles involved, but the right lane of only two northbound lanes was blocked, creating delays for commuters.

By 11:11 a.m., more than an hour later, the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened.


It remains unclear at this time whether anyone was injured.
