BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old Rockland County woman was issued multiple citations after a wreck involving an ambulance last Saturday in Teaneck, reports Daily Voice.

The accident occurred on River Road, near the entrance to the eastbound lanes of New Jersey Route 4. It was first reported on September 10, shortly after 4:30 p.m.

According to police, a 52-year-old male driver with the Bergenfield Volunteer Ambulance Corps was operating an ambulance northbound on the road when the young woman suddenly tried to change lanes while driving her Mercedes C43.

The Ambulance Corps driver said he swerved in an attempt to avoid a crash, but the passenger side of the rig’s cab was still hit by the Mercedes.

The Mercedes driver told officers the ambulance driver had sped up prior to the crash.

After an investigation, the female driver was given three summonses for “driving while suspended, driving without insurance and making an unsafe lane change.”

No injuries were reported in the event.
