UNION COUNTY, NJ — A man died early Monday after being struck by a vehicle on Saint Georges Avenue in southwest Rahway, according to Shore News Network.
The fatal incident took place at the intersection with West Inman Avenue, shortly before 3:00 a.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but the Rahway Police Department said the male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop. The vehicle fled southbound in the direction of Woodbridge Township.
According to authorities, officers worked to administer life-saving measures, but the victim died on the scene as a result of his injuries.
Police continue to search for the driver and suspect vehicle, believed to be a dark-colored Nissan sedan with tinted windows. Officials said the vehicle likely has damage to its front driver’s side bumper, as well a broken front driver’s side window.
