UNION, NJ – A pedestrian was severely injured during a hit-and-run crash on the Garden State Parkway in Union early this morning, according to information from local news media.
The collision happened on the GSP near milepost 139.5 at around 5:27 a.m., as a pedestrian was removing a construction sign from within a construction zone.
A person driving a Mercedes sedan collided with a traffic cone, then hit the pedestrian and the construction sign. The driver failed to stop and continued before hitting an unoccupied Ford F-350. The driver then fled the scene.
The pedestrian sustained severe injuries in the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident at this time.
