WASHINGTON, NJ (WARREN COUNTY) – One man was killed and two people were injured after a pickup truck crashed into the second floor of a home in Washington Township early this morning.

According to Lehigh Valley Live, the crash happened in the 600 block of Route 57 at around 3:30 a.m., when a 27-year-old man from Washington Borough tried to pass two other vehicles.

He then lost control of his red Dodge Ram pickup truck and crashed into a mailbox and a stone pillar. The Ram was sent into the air and finally crashed into the second-story bedroom of a nearby home.

A passenger in the pickup truck, a 24-year-old man from Washington Borough, died at the scene.

The driver was ejected during the crash and sustained minor injuries.

One of the homeowners, identified only as a woman, was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries.

The other homeowner, a man, was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Authorities believe that the driver was likely under the influence when the crash happened, and that possible charges are under review. Speed may also have been a factor in the collision.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
